About Us
Mission
Our goal is to identify the mechanisms through which sleep disturbances increase pain and the risk of developing a chronic pain condition, such as musculoskeletal pain, low back pain, and pain associated with post-acute infection syndromes. We envision that this knowledge will one day provide the basis for developing more targeted and personalized strategies to prevent and manage pain in the many individuals experiencing sleep disturbances.
Team
Intersecting the Fields of
Sleep,
Pain,
Inflammation,
and Sex
We are an interdisciplinary team combining expertise in sleep, pain, inflammation, and sex differences.
Our team utilizes multi-modal approaches to assess sleep (wearable sleep monitors, EEG-based sleep assessments), pain (spontaneous pain, pain sensitivity, pain sensitization, pain inhibition), and inflammation (pro-inflammatory, counter-inflammatory, pro-resolving pathways) in the at-home and controlled in-laboratory environment.
Our team is committed to Harvard Medical School’s 3R Initiative of Rigor, Reproducibility, and Responsibility in research and we provide a positive scientific lab culture and training environment to all our members and mentorees.
