Sleep & Pain Laboratory

Our goal is to understand the mechanisms through which sleep                                                protects us from developing pain and helps us to resolve pain.

Intersecting the Fields of

Sleep,

Pain,

Inflammation,

and Sex

We are an interdisciplinary team combining expertise in sleep, pain, inflammation, and sex differences.

Our team utilizes multi-modal approaches to assess sleep (wearable sleep monitors, EEG-based sleep assessments), pain (spontaneous pain, pain sensitivity, pain sensitization, pain inhibition), and inflammation (pro-inflammatory, counter-inflammatory, pro-resolving pathways) in the at-home and controlled in-laboratory environment.

Our team is committed to Harvard Medical School’s 3R Initiative of Rigor, Reproducibility, and Responsibility in research and we provide a positive scientific lab culture and training environment to all our members and mentorees.
