Nicole Lynch

Senior Research Assistant
Nicole has been working in the Machado Lab since October of 2022. Before beginning with the Machado Lab, Nicole gained experience in neuroscience research through her work with the Kaur lab, where she helped with projects investigating the neural circuitry underlying sleep, arousal and respiration.
Since joining the Machado Lab, Nicole has worked extensively with fiber photometry and calcium signaling tools to record neuronal activity in-vivo. Most recently, Nicole has begun helping with experiments that utilize GRIN lenses to complement the lab's fiber photometry experiments. Beyond calcium signaling tools, Nicole also helps with optogenetic and chemogenetic experiments in the lab and has been involved in projects that focus on the circuitry underlying thermoregulation, metabolism, and torpor.
